How does the Kinetic Switch work?
Jul 31, 2025
Wireless. Battery-free. Simply clever.
Rethinking light switches – that was our goal when we developed the Kinetic Switch . But how exactly does a switch work that requires neither a power connection nor a battery ? The answer lies in an innovative combination of mechanics and wireless technology that operates completely independently.
⚙️ Energy from movement – without any power supply
The Kinetic Switch uses a mechanical principle: When pressed, the switch generates a small amount of kinetic energy —just from the pressure of your finger. This energy is enough to send a radio signal .
So no battery or power connection is necessary.
🔋 100% battery-free
🔧 maintenance-free
🕹️ mechanically robust – up to 200,000 switching operations
📡 Proprietary 433 MHz radio technology
The generated pulse is transmitted via 433 MHz radio technology . This frequency is particularly energy-efficient and reliable—ideal for simple, secure switching operations. It reaches a distance of up to 30 meters indoors and 80 meters outdoors.
Each switch operates with its own coded protocol , so multiple switches in the same household don't interfere with each other . Other radio signals in the house (e.g., from remote controls or sensors) also don't affect functionality.
📶 Stable connection with long range
🔐 Unique radio coding for each switch – no interference
⚡ Immediate response without delay
Depending on the application, the switch directly controls a suitable receiver module, e.g. for lights, roller shutters or other devices.
🛠️ Installation: Simply attach, done
The Kinetic Switch can be mounted on any surface – no cables, no power, no drilling.
Whether on the wall, glass, wood or tiles: the switch is simply attached with adhesive pads or screws and is ready for use straight away.
To enable the switch to control devices such as lamps or roller shutters, a radio receiver is installed between the power supply and the consumer – two variants are available depending on the application:
💡 Compact radio receiver : Ideal for direct connection to the lamp or device. Fits into luminaire housings or flush-mounted boxes.
⚙️ 6-channel professional receiver : For professional use in sub-distribution systems . Allows central control of up to six circuits.
👉 Good to know: Connecting both receivers is no more complicated than connecting a lamp . Anyone with some DIY experience can easily do it themselves. Alternatively, an electrical contractor can handle the installation.
💡 Once connected, the Kinetic Switch is immediately ready for use – and can be flexibly relocated at any time.
🌱 Sustainable and future-oriented
By eliminating the need for batteries and external power supplies, the Kinetic Switch is not only maintenance-free but also extremely environmentally friendly . It actively contributes to reducing electronic waste , saves energy and resources in everyday life, and makes your home a little more sustainable.
